How to Infuse Positivity into Your Daily Routine


I have to be honest. The last few weeks have been hard. Not make or break you kind of hard but discouraging hard.

I don’t get discouraged often but when I do, my go to is to focus on the positive things to “jump start” my attention on the things that matter most and that are good in my life.

So of course I had to share what works for me in hopes that it makes your world a little brighter. Since we chatted about habits last week on the blog, I thought this was a perfect marriage of information.

It’s super easy to get bogged down by stress and negativity. However, incorporating small, intentional habits into your routine can bring a significant boost to your overall happiness and well-being. Here are some practical tips to help you infuse your days with positivity and joy.


Start Your Day with Gratitude

Kickstart your morning by acknowledging the good things in your life. Before you even get out of bed, think of three things you’re grateful for. This simple practice shifts your focus from what’s missing to what’s already abundant in your life, setting a positive tone for the rest of the day.


Incorporate Mindful Moments

Mindfulness doesn’t have to mean long meditation sessions. I usually fall asleep when I try to meditate too long. Instead, weave short mindful moments into your routine. Pay attention to the taste of your morning coffee, take deep breaths during a work break, or savor a quiet walk. These moments of presence can significantly reduce stress and enhance your overall sense of well-being.


Move Your Body

Regular physical activity is crucial for both physical and mental health. Find an exercise routine that you enjoy, whether it’s yoga, dancing, running, or a simple walk in the park or around the block at lunch. Moving your body releases endorphins, the natural “feel-good” hormones, which can elevate your mood and energy levels.


Connect with Loved Ones

This is my favorite!

Human connection is a vital component of happiness. Make it a habit to reach out to friends and family regularly. A quick phone call, a heartfelt text, or a virtual coffee date can strengthen your bonds and provide essential emotional support. Building and maintaining positive relationships enriches your life and brings more joy to your days.


Practice Kindness

Small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect of positivity. Compliment a colleague, help a neighbor, or volunteer for a cause you care about. These actions not only make others feel good but also enhance your own sense of joy and fulfillment.


Engage in Creative Activities

Creativity is a powerful outlet for self-expression and joy. Dedicate time each week to activities that spark your creativity, such as painting, writing, gardening, or cooking. Engaging in creative pursuits can provide a sense of accomplishment and therapeutic relaxation. I find myself actually craving creative time!


End Your Day with Reflection

Take a few minutes before bed to reflect on your day. Acknowledge the positive moments and any challenges you overcame. Journaling can be particularly helpful for this practice. Reflecting on your experiences fosters a sense of appreciation and helps you set positive intentions for the future.


Limit Negative Influences

This is hard for me sometimes because of my work but setting boundaries has been useful in limiting negative influences during my work day. You may feel the same by the people that you are often surrounded by.

Be mindful of the influences you allow into your life. This includes the media you consume, the people you spend time with, and even your own thoughts. Try to reduce exposure to negativity and seek out uplifting and inspiring content. Surrounding yourself with positivity can greatly improve your outlook on life.
